The Federal Trade Commission narrowly voted Tuesday to ban nearly all noncompetes, employment agreements that typically prevent workers from joining competing businesses or launching ones of their own.
Worker: “Well, I got laid off from the job I’ve been working for the last 20 years, but at least I have the skills I picked up along the way!”
Company: “Actually, those belong to us too.”
