So is referring to a woman as “Barbie” not sexist if she works for Trump, or is it still sexist but it’s ok to be sexist towards women who work for Trump?

(I’d ban Daily Beast links if I were in charge.)

I think the whole ‘Barbie’ thing is a reference to how the women in Trump’s orbit all have the same over-manufactured aesthetic.

Calling someone “Barbie” is not sexist at all as long as the person being called it is actually made of plastic, such as in this case.

Is Barbie inherently sexist? I think here it’s implying that she’s just there to be the good-looking face of corruption. She is being used as a toy. Is calling out the sexism by referring to her as ICE Barbie sexist, or is using her as an ICE Barbie sexist?

Edit: I think the answer can be and is both. I don’t support the use of ad hominem attacks. It just makes your argument easier to dismiss and is completely unnecessary when you have so many easy legitimate arguments to be made against this administration. However, I do think the bigger issue is the administration using her compared to the crass comment.

Yes, it’s an obvious reference to her looks. Lefty internet is not immune to sexism. It’s easy to spot every time MTG or Lauren Bobert make the news. In 2016 sexism in some left spaces wasn’t just allowed, it was enforced.

Gotta admit, when she was governor of one of the Dakotas, I thought she was cute. Pretty sure a lot of the conservatives that voted for her thought the same thing.

Yeah, it is an obvious reference to the fact she was hired for her looks. Is the sexism the comment or the reason she was put in the position she is in?

(I’d ban Daily Beast links if I were in charge.)

Maybe after they ban Breitbart and some of the other right-wing propaganda outlets that pop up here from time to time are banned. Actually, are any new sites actually banned here? Don’t like the site? Just down-vote and move on.

I do object to the use of Barbie here, though. Partly because I don’t hear the guys in his orbit referred to as Kens. But I mainly object because her being a plastic toy for the administration to use to spew talking points is not my main objection to her. I’m more offended by her being a sadistic monster.

This person took a one-year old puppy, that she hadn’t bothered training, into a gravel pit and shot it to death because it wasn’t trained. Now, while this is bad, what’s worse is that she included this story in her memoirs because she thought it was flattering to her. This is a far more important factor about the type of person she is and why everyone on the planet should hate her. She should never be named as anything other than Puppy-killer Kristi Noem.
