    Night Trains for European Routes.
I do this regularly for all my long distance travels. It’s unfortunately more expensive than flying, but it’s better for the environment and you don’t really lose time as it’s over night.

Most flights aren’t long distance, but “I want to get wasted 1000kms away on a 30€ easyJet Fare with the boys”
And even for the long distances in Europe, if the political will is there you could have High Speed Night Trains

I’m not european and it’s pretty unheard of to use trains to reach other gulf states (like kuwait, UAE oman etc) but it makes sense.

What about travelling to other continents? I’d assume there’s no alternative to that.

We should focus on reducing the emissions we can easily reduce right now. As I’ve said, intercontinental travel is not a huge part of plane travel/emissions in Europe.

You can make synthetic fuel from CO2 and lots of electricity, and researchers say, that this might be something for those long flights. But it will make them much much more expensive.
