Im not sure that hypothesis fits. At the end she gets captured and delivered to the dude. In that scene everybody interacts with both characters. Also if I remember correctly, when they are both hugging in the support group, the therapist approach them, looks at them both “supporting” each other and nods. That scene wouldnt make sense if he was there alone just standing by himself.
I don’t think so, dude. He meets her at a meeting, she interacts with other people besides him. Near the end she’s getting on a bus and the driver waits for her while she tells him “meeting you was the worst thing that ever happened to me”.

The only healing what need doing is the hard work of getting to know and love your inner child. Ya know, the really emotional shit.

A lot of emotional focused and trauma focused therapy deals with unsuppressing your inner child. “Letting it out”.
The potion did the psychological healing, and her inner child came out.
