Comradeship // Freechat@lemmygrad.ml•What is your favorite quote from a Marxist?
28·5 days ago“We have no compassion and we ask no compassion from you. When our turn comes, we shall not make excuses for the terror” ~ K. Marx
I will always keep this quote in mind when sentimentality and morality surround me. They can murder our comrades, they can oppress our class, they can sabotage us; but when it is our turn, we will be fiercely authoritarian against the opposition, and any enemy of the proletariat will have no voice.
It’s an idealistic argument to believe that hedonism, a symptom, is the primary cause. It individualizes a structural problem that stems from the material base, since it doesn’t question the fundamental causes: real estate speculation, which makes it almost impossible (unless you’re saddled with debt for life) to access housing, and therefore impossible to settle down and form a family. Unemployment, precarious, almost slave-like working conditions. Geopolitical tensions and economic blockades that scarce resources and increase their price, thus increasing the price of services and the cost of living.
Before blaming people for prioritizing immediate pleasure, which becomes a cultural problem (superstructure), we must examine how decadent the material base truly is.

Ask Lemmygrad@lemmygrad.ml•Question regarding the Spanish Pm Pedro Sanchez
15·26 days agoNo, he’s not. Although he is not a bootlicker like his opponents (Vox party) who openly call for US intervention in Spain.
Housing speculation in Spain is a very serious problem that has not been addressed. The party he belongs to (PSOE - Partido Socialista Obrero Español) is a progressive party. Let’s remember that progressivism is a tool of liberalism, and therefore, also our enemy.
The fact that he has severed ties with Isntreal and strengthened trade relations with China does not automatically make him a comrade. At this point in history, cutting ties with Isntreal is the bare minimum, and strengthening relations with China is the most advantageous thing any non-sovereign nation (in practice, not on paper or in speech) can do.
Call me when Spain consists of a single Marxist-Leninist party and they start socializing major industries and, even more importantly, the land.

5·1 month agoYes, I also disagree with that part of the tweet that specifies they don’t wish harm on the ruling class. I would say more like “I do not wish harm only to the ruling American class…”

1·1 month agoputting all of the blame on the people and siding with the ruling class.
Oh, no. Absolutely not. The American ruling class is still American people.
The alienation of the working class is not the product of a conscious will of the bourgeoisie.
Edit: When I refer to “American people” I mean people from that country, not “pueblo” in the sense of the oppressed class.

8·1 month agoA reference to reality. There is no irony behind it.
The title is indeed a phrase said by Michael Parenti: https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/11292604-communism-ladies-and-gentlemen-i-say-it-without-flinching

Comradeship // Freechat@lemmygrad.ml•What is your favourite piece of Marxist art?
21·2 months agoOne of my all-time favorite works is “It Has Come to Pass” by Sergei Lukin. Imagine contemplating the opulence of the palace, knowing how the peasantry lived outside. Knowing that the revolution had triumphed and that it was time to build a future for everyone.

Some honorable mentions:
There’s a user named Fan Wennan who does concept art. It’s truly amazing:
“China: 2098”

Edit: some places where you can find socialist/communist/propaganda art:
Several come to mind, like the Soviet film Come and See, or some of Abbas Kiarostami’s films, but I’ll always recommend Amores Perros (2000) first. In the latter, the protagonist, Mexican actor Gael García Bernal, also plays Che Guevara in The Motorcycle Diaries (2004), a film that recounts Che’s motorcycle journey through Latin America, a journey that radicalized him and led him to study Marxism.

Comradeship // Freechat@lemmygrad.ml•What's a good language learning app or method?
6·2 months agoWhile it’s not an answer to your question, I recommend Hepsima’s videos. He’s a Finnish guy who speaks in Mandarin with people from China. His videos motivate me to learn Mandarin, and maybe when I reach a more advanced level, I’ll also speak with people from China like him to practice.

6·2 months agoYou mentioned you’re studying something you don’t like, so what do you like? I think exploring this is extremely important. If there’s something you’d really like to do and have the potential to pursue professionally, you could eventually help your mom with some expenses. Unfortunately, depression and anxiety can ruin any motivation you have.
Sending you a hug.

It’s no surprise. Every libertarian’s wet dream is the mafia. The mafia and the world of drug trafficking are the best representation of anarcho-capitalism and the free market.
Even Milei said it in an interview during his presidential campaign, that he trusted the Mafia more than the State, because at least the Mafia had a code of conduct. I mean, he even has a dog named Murray (after Murray Rothbard), the same Austrian school economist who recommended a “flourishing child market.”
