PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•Nvidia and AMD could kill some low- to mid-range graphics cards as memory shortage crisis intensifiesEnglish
2·20 days agoI agree. In retrospect When I said “big opportunity” I was pushing it. More of a (narrow) potential opening to try for a modest market share. I guess I’m just hoping affordable GPUs remain a thing.

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•Nvidia and AMD could kill some low- to mid-range graphics cards as memory shortage crisis intensifiesEnglish
2·20 days agoIf the big two completely abandon the low-mid market Intel, Lisuan, Moore Thread or whatever might put the little DRAM they manage to grab on that orphaned market. A large proportion of gamers aren’t into buying 2000$ GPUs. Those companies might not succeed right away but they’ve been cooking for a while already so I wonder.

3·23 days agoNope. Even if you can play solo, it requires an Internet connection at all times. Keep in mind this is free-to-play with microtransactions.

Technology@lemmy.zip•Insane: Microsoft's latest ad proves how useless Copilot on Windows 11 actually isEnglish
2·24 days agoNow, Copilot asks Aura to navigate to the Display settings in Windows and change the text scale to 150% which is the recommended option. The really funny part here is that the scaling is already set to 150%, so changing it wouldn’t really make a difference. Apparently in order to work around this gaffe, Aura quickly manually sets the scale to 200%, which solves the problem but isn’t what Copilot actually suggested
Not gonna lie I was expecting something more substantial.

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•Dwarf Fortress - The Siege Update is Out Now!English
7·1 month agoI’ve played many years ago, and I’ve started again in the last weeks with the Steam version. I’d say Dwarf Therapist isn’t required anymore to organize a fortress reasonably enough. The new work details are nice. DFHack is still very much relevant, and fortunately extremely easy to install with Steam. It offers various fixes, extra automation for stuff like butchery and a handful of advanced UIs where the game falls short.

13·2 months agoOut of the box the ROG Ally runs Xbox FSE which is a stripped down Windows optimized for gaming, so the comparison isn’t with the mainline. I didn’t find a comparison with Xbox FSE and Windows IoT though.

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•Palworld studio Pocketpair says its new publishing division won't handle games that use generative AI: 'We don't believe in it'English
12·2 months agoNonsense. Procedural generation is a rule-based deterministic system while generative AI is probabilistic and data driven. It’s fundamentally different.
