  • Also poly, and if I’d been dating a previously monogamous-only person for a month, I would definitely check in with them before hooking up with someone.

I mean, this situation also wouldn’t come up to begin with, because we would have discussed boundaries and communicated expectations when we started dating. Because while the above is how I handle things, literally everyone is different.

I don’t think it’s anyone’s fault, but I think there was a definite lack of communication, on both sides. Ambiguity leads to getting hurt.

Talk talk talk, folks, tell people what you need and expect, and make sure they are on the same page (and vice versa!!). And if different pages, see if you can come to an arrangement before feelings get hurt.

  • Or trauma, depression, etc, etc. We should really stop diagnosing people and just suggest mental health support from a professional when something is wrong.

Sincerely - a person with cptsd, who has been constantly misdiagnosed with autism and adhd by the community (I have neither, and it was harmful to think that was my problem).

  • This is exactly the feeling. Went through a tornado when I lived in the midwest. It hit two streets over, just missing us. The sirens were going off but we were teenagers and still hanging out on the couch, parents were out. There were a ton of storms growing up where the sirens went off so we were a little desensitized.

Suddenly just knew it was time to go, something was here. Don’t know how else to describe it, the air changes, it’s like the vibrations change in the wind, or a sound that’s too deep to hear. Can’t say exactly, but I still remember the feeling of move now. We all just bolted at the same time and ran to the basement.
