If something exists then it can be measured. It does not depend on a person’s ability to see.

Edit for the down voters: seriously. On the mobile app you can only select from what’s listed. There is no way to just edit and save.
It’s a unique disease. Very clear diagnostic criteria.
Though he didn’t have one normal trait. Did you know that almost 90% of schizophrenics smoke? It’s not diagnostic but that’s a really high rate given that only 1% of the population is schizophrenic yet they account for 5% of smokers.
Ah. Understandable. Dude was literally in the ER and the doc wanted to remove the hearing aid debris that was stranded in his ear canal. He is screaming that they can’t do it because the aliens will stop talking to him telepathically. Even though the aliens had been talking to him telepathically for decades before he got hearing aids.
Eventually his wife, my grandma, has finally, after all these decades, had enough and told him that if he didn’t let these docs remove the debris that was causing extensive pain that she was going to leave him. He would have died within days without her because he didn’t know how to cook a TV dinner or have any other other essential life skills. He finally caved. The voices did not stop.
Was it about the toupee?
Was it about toupee that he refused to get rid of?

He didn’t start doing aliens for money until long until retirement. That’s when he started writing his books, books I thought would never get finished, and being public about how aliens telepathically communicated with him.
As a career he was an engineer for defense contractors back in the day when all engineering happened on a drafting table.

28·3 days agoThis desperately needs a chart representing the relative strength of different magnet materials so that we can see where this is on the spectrum.
There are things one can know about ones self without an official diagnosis. And schizophrenia is definitely one of them.

Political Weirdos @lemmy.world•Trump Goons Boast They Ran ‘1,000 Simulations’ to Recommend Tragic $3 Meal

Political Weirdos @lemmy.world•Trump Goons Boast They Ran ‘1,000 Simulations’ to Recommend Tragic $3 Meal
3·5 days agoDepends on your priorities. Restaurants do not even offer the food I get cravings for. So even if I could afford the $15 to $20 per person they would charge I’d be getting not what I want for substantially more money.
Then there is the issue of time. I work for myself in a situation where I can’t work an extra hour or two to buy this over priced food that I don’t want. So it’s not like I can work to buy the crap meal. So I make the food I want with the time I have for the price I can afford. Which is, kinda ideal. Definitely worth it.
I’m not spending two hours making boxed Mac and cheese. I’m spending two hours baking bread, making tortillas, slow cooking venison chilli. And two hours is on the long end. I can food a lot. So sometimes I might spend a few hours canning three gallons of chili but the day I want to eat the chili it’s 50 minutes because I want fresh made cornbread with it. Why do meal prep a week in advance when you can do it a year in advance?

25·5 days agoOver in c/cooking I include the price per person for every meal I post along with disclosing any cost cutting variables like using backyard eggs. It is very possible to cook for less than $3 a meal as long as someone in the house has two or more hours a day to do the cooking.

5·6 days agoFor me a failed state is when the government doesn’t follow its own laws or there is no penalty for breaking the law. Once rule of law is gone society and the nation have failed. It doesn’t matter if it’s democracy or any other form of government. If it’s not following its own rules the anarchy is in charge, not the nation’s traditions.
