My old manager from 15 years ago, she tried several times to get me sacked, because she absolutely hated me for a reason I never found out. The company started to struggle so I was the first one to be made redundant because of her. A few weeks later I am working somewhere else in the same town, my new manager comes up to me and asks who the hell (my old manager) was? I asked how they knew her and apparently she had been phoning up trying to bad mouth me to get me sacked! Massively upset me how someone could hate me so much and I never found out why

While a lot of smart devices may seem unnecessary, they come into their own for less able / older people as it makes them more accessible

15·21 days agoUnfortunately it is, the amount of people I meet in daily life who will unquestioningly believe any old nonsense online, but will instantly question medical experts, harming themselves and others in the process. I had an uncle die during lockdown because he believed all the conspiracies online, and therefore did not get the COVID vaccine, and subsequently died of COVID.

10·3 months agoFrom my point of view people are too easily led, my mom and dad raised me to not necessarily believe what other people told me because they might be lying. Now because of facebook and other social media they come out with the most unhinged conspiracy theories, the people who raised me appear to be long gone, and now they look at me like I’m the weird one because I’m not a racist, transphobic easily led idiot.

United Kingdom@feddit.uk•UK ad agencies undergo their biggest exodus of staff as AI threatens industryEnglish
6·3 months agoI don’t want to go into massive detail but my partner works in the creative industry, they have had the threat of AI replacing them for a few years, management is obsessed with it, to the point they have invested a ridiculous amount of money into AI but it simply can’t do what they want it to. So now they are threatening redundancies not because AI is going to replace them but because they have lost so much money the only option is to get rid of people.

Reform have taken control of my council and are already talking about getting the asylum seeker hotels closed in the town centre. I mean there aren’t any but that’s not stopping them going on about it.
