I believe so, but this guy wants to go after everything else like getting trades to use it and make metric the default setting on electronics.
IDK if thats the best plan or if he realizes what an uphill battle certain things might be. Like ovens; our oven somehow switched over to metric on thanksgiving and it totally messed me up, I spent a LOT of time figuring out how to change that back to F. Another issue is industries that just aren’t going to want to change: aviation, boats I think are imperial, railways are, home building, etc.

I feel like that would create the version of America in Snow Crash.

I don’t quite agree with that strategy, but I do think we need to keep buying less American and continue the somewhat cold shoulder for a long time. Lets not forget that this shit isn’t new… here in BC we’ve been dealing with BS over softwood lumber for decades.

I think we need some clarity here. Most people think you’re talking about the ice makers that are built into freezers and only a few of us think you’re talking about ice makers that go on your counter as a standalone machine.

I’m not American so I’m not super well versed in American politics… but I didn’t realize until reading your comment that there isnt really a chance at seeing sweeping changes as a result of this election.

As I said in another comment, it’s a national company so we operate in several different time zones. The issue comes from the fact that Ontario and Quebec (I think) are still changing their clocks. Otherwise I’m sure they could just change the clock on whatever server is running these legacy systems.
It’s also a mainframe system so we are all logging into one system.
Also also (and I didn’t find this out until this shit show happened) our employees in Saskatchewan have already been dealing with work time vs town time for like… well forever it looks like. So maybe the system NEVER could adjust for DST and the only reason it worked was because someone is manually adjusting the clock on the server. Idk. I’m at a complete fucking loss as to why this is an issue now, let alone how this could have been an ongoing issue in Saskatchewan for DECADES without anyone figuring out how to deal with it.

They would have to figure out changing a bunch of location’s time zones though and that *may* be beyond their capability. Also I don’t know if the system has Yukon’s time zone or not since we don’t operate there.
Its starting to cause a whole ton of small issues and now some relatively minor pay issues due to this potentially allowing the company to dodge shift differential pay.
I would go into more detail on a lot of stuff but I don’t want to name the company or anything.

Oh ya, the C3 and I think the C5. Not sure what the current versions are but if they’re in esp32’s then I guess that’s pretty main stream, just nowhere near a computer processor just yet.
Are the RISC-V ESP32’s cheaper than that ARM ones?

I feel like the ball is only just now rolling for ARM… and RISC-V is WAAAY behind that.

I find the popularity if Arch frustrating. Not that I have anything against it but because I worry people will go to arch and get scared away from Linux as a whole. I’m on Ubuntu and fedora and both those distros just work with no screwing around. Its so chill.
I know that what I said isn’t the literal truth. I work in a relatively conservative male dominated workplace and people who removed about trans things are ONLY bringing up M2F. It’s what they’re most worried about.

The issue is that its a national operation so the difference between provinces that changed and provinces that didn’t change creates the problem.
They would either need to create new time zone profiles for the provinces ditching daylight savings or they would have to manually swap the time zones of certain locations in the system every 6 months. I gather that both are now beyond the IT department’s ability.

My employer’s computer system is so old …and the devs that know how to work on it are all retired… they can’t fix it with to add or adjust the new time zones. So instead of calling one of the retired guys to come contract out to fix it, like they did for a different system change they did a few years ago, they’re just going to leave it and make us all operate in a different time zone at work.
Its only chicks with dicks that scare the right. I don’t think they know about F2M trans men.

I’m slowly turning into one of those Graph-holes with each comment like this that I make but… GrapheneOS. No AI, no sketchy shit, only has what you put on it.
I don’t like android so I miss iOS but I just can’t go back anymore.

Its clear to me that you’re not really worth engaging with. But I’ll basically restate my point. There are a ton of really great games out there; you’re playing the wrong ones.
It Takes Two and Split Fiction. Two excellent split screen games that came out from one studio within the last 5 years.
Factorio. One of the best single player games I’ve ever played. There is multiplayer co-op but that’s not really the point of the game.
Peak, RV There Yet, and other games in the “friend slop” category. They’re not the best games ever but they’re pretty enjoyable and I play some of these at home with my kids, steamdeck vs PC. They’re just fun games.
Tape to Tape. I havent played it yet because it’s not quite my type of game, but it’s a roguelike hockey game that does local multiplayer (its not split screen if you don’t split the screen right?) or single player.
Bopl battle. This is kind of an obscure oddity but my son was playing it for a while. Its sort of an arena battle game like smash bros but different (of course). Supports not local multiplayer (like smash bros) or online play.
Battle Bit. It’s kind of semi-abandoned now which makes me sad, but it was a battlefield style shooter which was simply amazing for a brief period in time.
Age of Empires II DE. I hesitate to put this in here, but Microsoft reworked the original game a while back so it runs properly on modern computers and gave it just a little bit of a graphics improvement without killing the spirit of the original.
Minecraft. It’s still good even if it’s mostly seen as a kids game. Supports split screen still but that has always been on consoles only.
These are just the good games I’ve been playing over the last few years that come to mind. There is a lot of trash out there but there are also a lot of gems

Theres a whole world of gaming outside of the competitive gaming scene that’s doing great.

Report it to bylaws. Using a residential zoned property solely for commercial purposes goes against zoning codes.
No, let’s just change all that to metric and get carpenters to refigure out what they’re doing. Mills can just retool to cut plywood, boards, and insulation in metric right?
