Not to the early Christians it wasn’t. The early Christians movements (before they were co-opted by Empire) were radically egalitarian.

I’ve only been here a couple days, but from what I’ve seen so far, lemmy is significantly more left wing than reddit at large (which is really saying something), and I’ve seen basically zero pushback on that.
Obviously we don’t want to encourage extremist right wingers to come in and trash the place, but it also wouldn’t hurt to have some more mainstream appeal.
Race/ethnicity is an immutable physical characteristic. Culture is a set of norms and attitudes that people choose to (or not) adhere to. Nobody would fly off the handle if you said new yorkers are stand-offish. It’s generally true - even if it doesn’t necessarily apply to the whole.
