That’s why we call those people executives.

2·29 days agoIn Pratchett’s and Baxter’s long earth the first sentient Ai claims to be a reborn monk. That way he claims human rights which makes if illegal to deactivate him.
Remembered me a little of this.

Not The Onion@lemmy.world•Billionaire CEO: Work-Life Balance Is For The WeakEnglish
23·1 month agoHow’s being weak bad?
That’s the true fallacy being put into our minds here. Some people are strong and some are weaker. I think solidarity is a great thing and we should help each other out.
If some people are not made for working as much we should let them. Leave them be. You work your ass off all you want if you like. Both is fine.
Let people love their own lives and don’t judge.
People are born different. We should make a world where everyone can live decently.
I like steam. They are a good pro customer company.
As a developer steam isn’t as nice. They use their dominant market share which is close to a monopoly to take large cuts from developers. Even smaller ones.
They also disallow selling the game lower elsewhere.
But among large gaming companies they are still easily one of the best.
What they did for Linux is huge.
I hope when gave leaves we won’t all be fucked royally and be reminded why a monopoly is bad.
So overall positive but conflicted.
Now that’s just unrealistic expectations.

science@lemmy.world•No evidence ADHD is being over-diagnosed, say expertsEnglish
11·3 months agoLike many adults I just got recently diagnosed in my mid 30s.
For me it was that I can’t have adhd because I was good at school and uni. Then I completely fell apart when I entered work.
I had to go through depression and burn out and bore out and more. Eventually someone said I could have adhd and just been able to deal due to high IQ.
Turns out that’s what it was. I’m really good at learning new stuff. So school and uni. I really suck at repeating the same shit all day. So work. Welp. Helps to know.

science@lemmy.world•No evidence ADHD is being over-diagnosed, say expertsEnglish
11·3 months agoIt’s really not.
Not every adhd is equally severe nor do they all affect the same parts of people’s lives. I’m happy this works for you but it does not mean it works for everyone.

7·3 months agoIn my experience people who use a lot of corporate buzzwords do it to obfuscate their own incompetence.
Try asking those people to explain their buzzwords in more detail or give an example. It’ll become clear if they even know what they are saying.
Same.
Also I get to share my hobbies with them. We got a d&d group, we paint minis and play video games together. Which is stuff I’d do anyways.
I also picked up inline skating as my kids do that all the time and just standing there while they skate was boring.
Plus I still got hobbies as does my wife. Yes there is less time but we have each other’s backs so everyone can have some time for their own interests like once or twice a week.
I’ll figure something out when it happens.
Polygamy is just an easier way to find consistent players.
Uuuh… Jim once became the BBEG in a story arc I GMed in masks.
I set myself the challenge that whoever the Bull character first selects as their rival will somehow be one of the main bosses of the first storyline.
So they chose the random security guy named Jim who was tasked with watching the group during prep for a press event.
So J.I.M. was born. Juggernaut infiltration Mercenary program made by some lex Luther type ceo to create super soldiers. And Jim was one of them gone rogue.
It’s an adventure the group still remembers very fondly.

11·9 months agoIt’s either obsession or bust for me. But that’s with everything in life almost.
Currently obsessed with silk song too. But then it could end any second.
I didn’t game any video for almost two years prior. Like at all. Excitement suddenly gone.
I went into board games and trading cards instead. It’s really annoying sometimes to lose interest after so much investment of time and money and emotion.
Brain is weird man.
For me it’s always visible.
