5·2 months agoThat sentence is wrong. Women stay longer in the hospital after a c-section. You are right to question the article if that is what it says.

13·2 months agoThe fact that there is a profit motive behind the overuse of c-sections is a settled issue. There is. There are investigations, there are studies, and there are metaanalyses of those studies. C-sections are a relatively easy procedure with predictable results that minimise litigation risk. It is frankly absurd how high the incentive is for a hospital to perform one.
I can’t comment on your baby in particular. I don’t know the relevant facts and it would be wildly unethical to comment on it as a result. But with regards to whether there is a financial motive to perform c-sections in general the science is in.

1·3 months agoState capitalist does not imply such a thing. State capitalism is whem the state does capitalism ehich it is perfectly possible to do in a way where it is attenpting to forward a communist aim. This was the case in the ussr.

1·3 months agoThen your argument is not about whether or not china is state capitalist but about whether or not the Communist Party of China is earnestly communist and truly represents the working class in its political aims. That is an entirely sifferent question and is not much affected by whether or not they have state run enterprises.

1·3 months agoThese are not arguments against accusations of state capitalism. State capitalism doesn’t mean that stuff isn’t state owned, or that the state doesn’t crack down on billionaires.
State capitalism refers to the idea of a state owning the means of productions and engaging in capitalist practises through state owned or controlled enterprises. Saying that the state owns companies in china is like… perpendicular to the argument to whether China engages in state capitalism. These links are mostly irrelevant to the question.

13·6 months agoBut the two arent connected. If anything having a competent and powerful anti corruption investigative tool would help them fight Russia given the problems with corruption faced by the Ukranian military. Like do you think the Russians have every news agency in the west questioning this by the balls so they’ll say that making an corruption agency less independent is bad?

5·8 months agoIt would be cool to see some anti colonialist solidarity in the region again. Although it being theoretically aligned and spearheaded by an organisation created in part to destroy anti colonialist unity is iffy.
Yeah. I mean
but I think this post is vastly overestimating how many people follow the WHO’s advice on anything, let alone basic hygiene.

No they’re talking about general reduction of bed rest after birth, not that c sections have shorter hospital stays. It is also describing a process that originated in the 19th century, not a recent phenomenon.
