I highly doubt that you don’t know a single thing about AI, the climate crisis, the computer parts crisis, the datacenter/human health crisis and a lot of other things.

2·3 months agoIf I didn’t know anything about Linux, and had Linus Tech Tips as my main source of knowledge in regards to Linux, I would have considered Linux to be a toy novelty project at best.
Linus Tech Tips should focus on what they’re good at, which is, err… Well. I bet they’re good at something. Perhaps making noodles or something?
You need to add some sort of context. Posting a single link without even a title explaining what it is, makes it look like random spam.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Hey! I'm new to lemmy, but not to linux. Wanted to ask about your experiences pirating software on linux and if it's really all that viable.
1·3 months agoSoftware piracy is the very reason that Microsoft got all the market share and had the power to ruin it for Linux.
Either pay for the software, use free alternatives or write your own software.

Add the command to your configuration for sudo/doas so you don’t have to enter a password for it when executed as your user.

It’s users like this who gives Linux users a bad reputation.
When shit like this happens it’s your responsibility to call these shitheads out.
I’ve been using XMPP the past two decades. I use it because I haven’t found something that’s better.

There’s always pyinfra.
However. The easiest solution is probably a custom shell script that checks which OS it is and does different things based on that. It doesn’t have to pretty as long as it works for you.
Edit: Why do you keep reinstalling your operating system?
According to a blog post my Keeb.io:
Floating is probably the one to retire. Forearm support is your wrist’s best friend. Wrist support is your shoulder’s best friend.
The post is citing a small study of only 13 participants, but I think it’s way more of value than any personal opinion from some random dude on the Internet (which includes me as well).
With that said. I’m a wrist rest person my self. I’ve been spending a lot of time at the computer, probably too much time at times. And I have used wrist rest exclusively for more than a decade with various mechanical keyboards.
I’m the person who uses a highly keyboard driven environment that mostly consist of text-based software. I don’t use the mouse a lot, so I always rest my hands on the keyboard with the fingers on the home row (asdfjkl;).
This works for me, but you should listen to your body and what it’s telling you. According to the article it doesn’t seem to exist some one good thing that works for everyone. Which is probably true for most things.
However. Stay away from those tilted keyboards. They’re rather popular because aesthetics. Which is stupid. Your keyboard should preferable have a negative tilt, or at least have no tilt at all.

That’s super easy to fix with tools like entr. That’s what I use when I write Markdown documents so I can automatically generate the plain text file to a PDF document using Pandoc, and preview it simply by saving the file in Neovim. :)
