  • Indeed. But that paradigm breaks when the percentage at stake, the password ultimately being wrenched for, is literally infinite wealth.

That’s what immortality functionally is. Some things by logical extension, and others admittedly chances to attempt them, but potentially infinite of 'em chances. At anything. The acquisition of any resource is not even a full chapter in the new book.

If you (generic you, here the kind of person who would be in the sphere of the kind of person to attempt to withhold and control immortality already) are even remotely close enough to pick up a wrench and take it to whoever is holding it, you don’t settle for a percentage, you go start the first of a long line of endless beatings on the first Immortal. It’s the only value proposition that makes sense, any degree of acquiescence against your interests, is agreeing to give them up and do so for potential eternity.

Imo, there’s only one way uh…well, it’s not ethical in our framework but I’m ready to argue how it is from the framework of a future immortal POV…I guess way to handle immortality.

You dose everyone with it. Full send it, most heinous final act of Humanity. Go straight to the deepest hell, the first Immortal cell belongs to you. But then everyone has to deal with fucking around and the finding out, forever, no exceptions or excuses.

Shit will get solved and we’ll be on our way to solar expansion so freaking fast.

  • I honestly don’t think anyone is prepared to wield that set of keys to effectively enforce control on anyone.

They’re simply too valuable, sought after, and desired, imo.

I’d expect that the moment an individual despot or even a cabal thereof attempts to do so, they’ll go in a very shortlist designed with only one purpose in mind: Demonstration of the ways immortality absolutely sucks for you if guys with a bunch of wrenches are beating you up for the password.

Honestly, a smart and sane Oligarch should fear nothing with a greater degree of dread, than immortality.

  • It squares away in the UCMJ. Generic ‘You’ used throughout, below this point:

You are supposed to have the balls/constitution/wherewithal/spine to disobey an order you believe or know to be illegal, despite the harsh automatic penalties that will presume you guilty until innocent for doing so, as you accept those possible consequences as readily as you accept taking an artillery shell for your country.

You are to hold this inhuman (as in, literally against psychological norm) stance deeper than the other stances programmed (with full use of psychological norms) into you in the course of being shaped for military services during training.

Because you are a warrior and are expected to hold yourself to standards far above and beyond those of the common population that you are (on paper, says every military of everywhere really) sacrificing your service for, so they don’t have to.

    Does it work?

Eh. Maybe if a standing military was full of the mythical Warrior Poets envisioned by the glories in the marching songs.

They pretty much universally never are, and usually never were except for brief periods fostered by singular individuals as driving forces.

    And thus, here we are.

Given what Kegsbreath has been doing to reshape the US military under his toddler level understanding of what a “warrior” is, I wouldn’t expect much of the requisite spine to still be enlisted for service for long.

They exist still, and hopefully the ones that are already out, the ones still in, and their neighbors are doing some common sense mathematics, but that is simply not something that can be expected and accounted for, and historically when things get to that point, it’s a bad time for everyone regardless.

  • FUCK GEN AI.

Alright, clear opening, I think I can follow this comment.

All of you here excusing it or saying "oh its not AI its the corporations can suck my left nut.

Uninterested in technical detail, and blaming corporations, with a request for left nut oral for any holding any views thereof, ok, still following your stance, very clear.

but I am an anarchist and I stand firmly against all forms of AI.

    Sweet, the thesis statement.

    The only ethical use is

    Wait, what?

data sets pertaining to medical and research models

But we can’t talk about the technology that allows that, or it’s the left nut for us?

    that are locally run.

    So… non-corporate use is okay?

AI is a control tool and if you self host, IMO it reads to me like you want an info slave.

Well, yeah, I mean, we can call it an info daemon or something cooler, but yeah, for the control of the medical and the research datasets, yeah?

I’m very confused. Do I help you suck your own left nut or do I nuzzle the right one, comrade?

  • She is 100% a foreign asset, heavily influencing the hegemon (can’t claim control over dementia though, and that’s all the schadenfreude we truly get).

Enabled by the simple act of being (insultingly) obviously molded for the role.

Which is leading the figurehead by the “little mushroom”, via superlatively praise ridden word and action.

And you know damn well that the coming of age thing means they roleplay some morally questionable shit during the theater rendition of the Aristocrats.

That’s why you included it on your list, so now you gotta think about it again for making me picture it.

You know how a narcissist parent expects their kids to thank them for everything, even them accomplishing basic milestones of growing up?

    Yeah 🤢.

  • If you are able to, make some sort of foundation so that the bottom of the freezer isn’t in contact with the bare ground, at all, even if it’s just setting it atop some cinder blocks.

This will help with all of the aspects you’re going to be tackling:

It will give an air pocket to vastly reduce the loss of heat from the freezer going into the much colder ground. Even a freezer isn’t a perfect insulator, and the earth is a mighty large and cold slab.

It will give space for any sort of drainage system to function better, which you’re absolutely going to want to do something for sure, as you’ll have moisture condensation and bodily fluids to content with. Even though the cats will almost certainly immediately recognize the location as shelter instead of using it for “waste disposal”, some may take some learning and/or may be too sick to regulate themselves. (I would recommend putting some sort of sloped and channeled water proofed material inside the “flooring”, to guide any standing fluid towards your drainage).

It will also help mitigate somewhat the possibility of whatever critters might be in the brush beneath before full freeze, from having an easy path into the kitty hostel.

  • You think it’s an error, but no.

The second definition is telling you that verboten means something is “forbidden, prohibited”. As in, the “something” is forbidden because it is prohibited.

But that first one? “Forbidden; prohibited”.

That’s where the real first use definition would go…except you are forbidden from knowing what it should be defined as…because it’s prohibited. For you.

Simply don’t, next time, ok? Or you’ll be verboten next.

  • Note: Source has a “soft” subscription wall (non-scripted element), FF reader mode enough to bypass.

It’s full of practical and common sense suggestions, for navigating the current legalities of the system and how to attempt to receive accountability, in the events described in the headline.

That is all I will say about it, directly. I will never personally use it.

As the one in my family most likely to be the initial target in the hypothetical scenario, I hadn’t considered my stance and position on the subject, should it not be me who is murdered by the…fuck, I don’t have energy for euphemisms anymore.

Personally, if I’m caught within that situation, new articles will have to be written about the events proceeeding, regardless of the actual outcomes.

Preservation letters? Family Captain? Canvass the neighborhood for un-tampered with evidence?

Yes, those are indeed tools, but I wouldn’t be using them as proscribed in that article.

  • Ugga ugga big bonk is not something you build for.

You can, but such planning is clearly indicative of DEX thinking. All Bonk requires is the bravery to face your foes, and bonk them.

You simply start, grab the biggest, heaviest, most bonky bonk stick you are blessed with within 15 minutes of playing.

It will be there. The bonk is always there, waiting to be recognized.

You grab it and you pump your numbers into enough str to bonk really fucking hard with it.

    You then go and bonk.

In the course of bonking, you learn you need to sustain a minimum amount of bonking yourself, in order to bonk the best you can bonk.

You then hold up three fingers, that is all you need. That is more syllables than ‘bonk’ has, so for every time you say bonk, you put a point in STR and another in VIT.

This continues until you feel you are no longer being bonked before your own bonking takes place.

Depending on how many syllables you think ‘bonk’ has as you were chanting it earlier, you will end up with roughly 1 VIT for every 3-4 STR.

That is all the thinking you need. Even other bonk sticks, while plentiful, are optional.

  • This is the current (and best imo) ‘retconned’ explanation. It’s been the one the series has kinda quietly operated under for a while, and when you have the rest of the tech in the plot play along with the paradigm, it works well.

I know Star Wars Outlaws got a lot of (deserved) flak, but the way the technology worked in the background of the setting was a master class in utilizing this paradigm.

Basically, the Wild West spirit has always been a part of SW. They literally operate under ‘The Pony Express’ rules as it comes to information dissemination, to spread the news out to all the disparate homesteads planets out in the big expansive praire space.

  • Edgarianny and Freddys said that they followed the proper instructions and were told they were approved for self-deportation by the government. “On July 6, we went to our ICE check-in appointment as instructed,” the letter said. “We believed we were going there to finalize our travel home. Instead, after we signed all the forms waiving all our rights, we were arrested. “We were immediately taken into custody and transferred to Dilley. Since then, we have done everything we can to make clear that we want to return home. We withdrew our immigration appeal, waived our rights, and asked to return voluntarily. We were even told that we had been placed on a list for a flight home. Then we were taken off the list.”

I used to think the right choice for “justice” for the…perpetrators behind this, was an expeditious trial. With an equally expeditious carrying out of sentencing.

    I think I was wrong.

If and when, if and when. Care should be taken to ensure they all get promises of leniency, good treatment, and safety. That the signing of their plea deals will make their life uncertain, but otherwise okay, just be patient. Then a good and torturous shuffling through the same facilities they used and then without warning, the wall out back.

    Yeah.

  • Being utterly unfamiliar with this case up until my rushed reading of 10 mins ago, and operating under the assumption that everything you’ve said is 100% factual reporting:

    Holy. Fucking. Shit.

What!? That isn’t smoke pointing to a fire, it’s a goddamn molten slag cast in the shape of a man gleefully setting fire to a previous life as he dances over to a new fire pit.

That shit is too on the nose that I fully expect the true crime drama episode in 10 years about husband’s exploits to come with a warning about the gullibility of the system and technology.

Just enough digital trail to “absolve” him, conveniently, but only if you pick and choose where and when to accept the trail is on his side?

This is absolutely looking like the classic “sociopathic piece of skin husband has idealized mental picture of life shattered by difficult reality and decides to dispense with his ‘property’ before moving on” murder pattern.

  • I do believe you’re absolutely correct in essence, even if the mechanisms are subject to debate.

I switched to only getting around by E-bike 90% of the time, and the effect you describe regarding bicycle trip time subjectivity is absolutely real.

Taking 45 minutes to go 15 miles away feels a lot faster and relaxing than the 20 minutes it would be by car. People wave at you and you at them, that’s still a thing!

About the only time the American psyche is confronted with the prospect of mindfulness and driving, is during the now nearly mythical “road trip” and even that experience has long since been reduced to listening to nav voice as you drive fast from point to point.
