Apple Intelligence Taking Up 30GB+ on Some Macs Running macOS 27

After you install macOS 27 Golden Gate, Apple automatically downloads a multi-gigabyte AI model to your Mac the next time it's connected to the internet. Unlike previous versions of macOS, you can't prevent it. Siri AI, and by extension Apple Intelligence, are now a mandatory part of your system.

      I didn’t even leave 30GB for MacOS after I installed Asahi, so I guess it’ll just fail to download if it tries?

      My devices can’t run Apple AI because Apple thinks they can strongarm EU into deregulation by withholding it from us. Joke’s on them, it’s a feature and not a bug.

    I’m pretty sure it’s an option you can disable if you need the space. Definitely preferable to a cloud LLM like copilot that you’re not allowed to uninstall

      The only way to disable it involves workarounds like changing Siri language to some other non-supported region. This is pretty much mandatory with no opt-out otherwise.
