To be fair, we said that about the USA version of the office when that showed up. It turned into a cult hit after they ironed out the kinks a little.
As an office fan, I’m going to give this a chance mainly from the fact they took the idea and made it their own instead of cookie cutter copying the USA / UK version scene for scene like all the other variants. So for that fact they have sat down, put some effort in and written what could be some good comedy.
Counterpoint: ‘ABC “centrist” political boomer comedy written by Rob Sitch’ could also describe Utopia, and everyone here is (quite rightly) saying that’s an excellent show.

I guess it could grow into something, but it feels like the a generic ABC “centrist” political boomer comedy written by Rob Sitch.

Yeah, it could well take them a few episodes or even a couple of seasons to mesh.
