Australia’s census will add a sexuality and gender question for the first time, changing how LGBTQ+ communities are counted and services are planned.

    This move is actually a step backwards in disguise. The body responsible for the census now believes that sex is immutable and has replaced ‘sex’ with ‘sex at birth’. There’s more problematic aspects to it but that’s the worst part.
