GUADEC (GNOME conference) has finished uploading all their talks online. This is a great way to learn about what’s going on in the GNOME project from a diverse set of people.
Cool things include:
- Flatpak portals (because the GNOME project is heavily involved/invested in flatpak).
- New GNOME OS things.
- GTK can now render SVGs in-toolkit meaning we can have animated icons (the rust-based librsvg/glycin is still necessary for untrusted svgs/images).
- GNOME Boxes revival for building an accessible interface for virtual machines.
- And a lot of other cool stuff.

Highly recommend to watch these if you have free time and want to see nerdy cool things done by nerdy cool people.
Would have been cool to see a video / talk on Blueprint / Workbench. I was playing with the idea of developing a GTK application a few months ago and came to realize that Glade is dead (long dead) and has since been replaced by Cambalache. I played around with Cambalache for a bit, but then discovered Blueprint, which is IMO is a much more sensible way to design UIs.
