The fedv has a lot of shit going on that’s most easily explained as “activity at any cost” and/or a userbase that doesn’t understand what makes stuff funny or not funny in the same way as the rest of the internet - probably somewhat worse than Reddit during the rage comic era. And straight up spam, which I suspect for a lot of political “memes”: yes haha we sure are very angry at all the things that get very legitimately posted here on the fediverse. By people who are very people and real. Which, while fair enough in some ways, unfortunately leaves the political alleged humor with a comedy content that’s completely undetectable. There was a brief blip of, ahem, actual memes around “certain events” that were the sort of thing people meme about, *cough cough*, and then it’s right back to shit that makes the 1950s comics look funny. (That Garfield is so wacky!!, I laugh every time. Lasanga.)

But at least FOMO is not really an issue, more like Profound Relief At Missing Out.
