The Supreme Court on Monday restored broad access to the abortion pill mifepristone, blocking a lower-court ruling that had threatened to upend one of the main ways abortions are provided across the nation.

The order signed by Justice Samuel Alito temporarily allows women seeking abortions to obtain the pill at pharmacies or through the mail, without an in-person visit to a doctor.

Those practices had been permitted for several years until a federal appeals court imposed new restrictions last week.

As it directly says in the second of the first three paragraphs sentences posted here by OP. Do we have to coddle the willfully illiterate so hard that there needs to be a separate comment in case someone only read the summary of the summary because the summary was too long™?

For 99% of articles, people who can’t even read the first approx. 60 words of an article shouldn’t even be in the comments section, and that shouldn’t be a controversial take. It’s the bare minimum you can do even if it’s not the bare minimum you have to do.

Yes it’s in the sentences but it’s deliberately omitted from the headline. (By AP not OP)

Also, my intent in posting only the single word was that it carry a tone of impending doom.

So whine all you like but I stand by my comment.

Maybe the AP expects their audience aren’t post-lobotomy and either 1) understand that there’s nothing in the headline about a ruling, thus it’s inherently temporary or 2) are willing to read, again, sixty words/two sentences into an article before passing judgment. “Deliberately omitted” like it’s some kind of scheme; get the fuck out of here with that nonsense.

To call that standard above even sixth-grade media literacy (or US civics in the case of (1)) is being seriously generous. If you don’t understand (1), that’s maybe somewhat troubling but fine if you don’t keep up with politics. If (2) is a challenge for you (general “you”), then you have not done the bare minimum and for your own sake shouldn’t be wasting your time shitting up the comments section.

Sorry, I couldn’t hear you over the sound of a profoundly and catastrophically incurious society collapsing around us.

With such a short turn around I don’t think the court would restart it just to immediately restrict it.

The right will have nothing to rally around if this is banned so the SC made sure it was rage bait for conservatives to keep voting right. It’s what they want, just not quite yet.

We should all buy via request…you get a random DM with a shipping address and you just place an order to go to that address. Someone there receives it and ships it to the person in need. All traces erased the moment the stuff leaves. You can add a third layer.

      That’s a crime.

Meanwhile the person in need can just walk to the clinic and pick it up in-person. It was never banned for in person pickup.
