    TL;DR they want to control the experience, they don’t want you to feel like you have to “jump in” to CarPlay, and they don’t want it to be the same as on every other vehicle.

    My takeaway: they want to put ads in it. “Increase value to our consumers” or some other horseshit you use CarPlay to get away from. Oh, and never update it.

    When companies reinvent the wheel the product always sucks. And yeah it’s just to serve ads in the car and to track you even more than carplay.

    I wish there were an open source CarPlay.

    I’m incredibly sceptical of using a home made alternative, most car brands do a terrible job on software. Plus, I have zero trust over their (all carmakers) cybersecurity practices these days.
