i’m genuinely suspicious of people who say shit like that. it feels like some chauvinist holdover. and you can always tell they feel like theyre fucking che guevara (which they’re not) for saying it.
And there’s never a situation when that happens anyhow. Like why say it.
Also has a real “I would let 100 [disadvantaged people] die to save the life of one of my people” vibe.
Sounds like someone has never had 30-50 feral hogs come into his yard within 3-5 minutes while his kids played
i remember a comment that said “if a human you hate and a dog you love are dying, you should save the human”
idk about you all, but i am NOT saving the life of a fucking CEO/nazi/zionist/fascist over a dog, even just a random one that has done nothing. jfc.
: I want you and everyone to live a better life so I try to consider how my consumption effects others in as many ways as possible
: I will carpet bomb an animal shelter for one (white) human life
Opposite but similarly annoying are people who say they like animals more than humans despite eating meat at every meal.
It’s supposed to sound like they value humans a lot but really it just shows that they don’t value other life at all.
And interestingly enough, they’ll clutch their pearls upon hearing that I would gladly see 100 billionaires see less profits in the next quarter if it means saving one human’s life.
Weird.
Is this like a common saying? I can’t recall having ever heard this
usually said by people who won’t even give a dollar to a homeless person
makes you think they just want to kill a bunch of animals tbhIt would probably depend on the one person I’m saving. Is this someone I care for? Then, however I might think otherwise, I’d likely choose to save them. But that would hold true even if you swapped the 100 animals with 100 random humans so it’s still irrelevant.
It’s a travesty how often I see people on the street being mauled by 101 monkeys and there’s nothing I can do, because I’m only willing to kill 100 monkeys for a single human life.
