No, even Nazis are people. They may be horrible people whose hateful ideology needs to be forcefully purged from society, but they are still people.

Do you know how otherwise same people turn out just as bad as Nazis? It starts by dehumanizing their opponents.

(That’s not necessarily a statement in favor of the Reddit action, that was likely done by a bot anyway so no humans were involved.)

Recognizing that Nazis are people is necessary in order to understand how people become Nazis. Understanding how people become Nazis is necessary in order to fight Nazis.

I agree. Human rights and dignity are not negotiable. Not for mass murderers, rapists, Nazis, or Jeff Bezos. Not for anyone. Disagree, oppose, undermine, fight, but do not ever dehumanise.

Tbh I’m astounded that politics in the past managed to get that thought reflected in law and constitution. Not guilty until proven otherwise. In dubio pro reo!

Nowadays, I would not expect that much rationality from most people.

A few years ago I went for a walk and in front of me two left leaning people were talking to each other: “I’m looking forward to Saturday” the girl said to the guy. “There is a big Nazi demo in the next big city and I can’t wait to punch an Nazi”…

So in what way are you better then the Nazi, I thought.

It always starts with dehumanizing the others… then you can do whatever you want to them, without thinking about the suffering you created
