Good
“Buyer” … Aren’t the biggest companies also the biggest investors (nominally speaking)? So they prob don’t care about greenwashing and are concerned about the market value of such a product (and possible blowback on their ESG score)?
The big companies buying have been doing in full knowledge that the offsets are fraudulent — it’s an instrument for greenwashing. The public exposure of this reduced the value of offsets for that purpose, which is why they’re not worth as much, even though they’re likely to still be largely fraudulent.
Ofc (mostly) fraudulent, Im saying that it being fraudulent doesn’t affect the value, the public knowing about it does.
What s horrible system we agreed to. And keep tolerating it.
