  • Partially agree with you but a lot of things you raised are the same in western countries. It’s also refreshing to read sensible commentary. The mass surveillance is the same in other countries including the US, but not as obvious as in China. The cameras work as a deterrent. I can leave my phone and laptop outside in the park or café and don’t need to worry about it being stolen. Censorship is a real thing all over the world especially now in the US with whitewashing of history. Even on US controlled platforms like Reddit, you get perma banned if you are critical of the Trump administration.

And I’m sure the history books in the US do not go in depth about the treatment of tge native Americans and how they were almost eradicated.

The same in Europe. In the Netherlands the history books never mention the atrocities the VOC did in regards to slave trade and colonies.

I don’t agree about the working conditions. I travel all over China and deal with different businesses. Things are definitely improving. But at least the workers have workers protections and social security and health care.

I have both lived and worked in the US and China and prefer living in China.

    Let’s get the downvotes started

  • Actually this. Thank you. But unfortunately on the web you can not express anything positive or even neutral about China. Even though most have never set foot in China. If they would especially now most countries can travel visa free to China, it will change their mind. But that goes against the western propaganda.

China is an amazing country with beautiful nature, great people, amazing food, infrastructure Americans can only dream of, and millenia of history.

Plus China don’t starts illegal wars with other countries, impacting people all over the world.

  • I truly don’t understand the railway network in the US. Living in China now and the high-speed railway is amazing here.

It takes 4 hours from the center of Shanghai to the center of Beijing and next year will be cut to under 3 hours.

And nothing to do with but the US is a big country. China actually has a larger landmass than the US and I can go from one side of the country to the other by high-speed train.

It’s cheaper, more comfortable than by plane. They even have high-speed sleeper trains now for these long journeys. Japan, South Korea, Europe, UK, and even African countries like Morocco have proper high-speed rail.

The lack of investment in infrastructure in the US puts it decades behind the rest of the world. I guess the money for infrastructure goes to worthy causes like invading Venezuela and Iran.

Edit: the continent of Africa is building a high speed railway network connecting 60 cities throughout the whole continent. That is how far the 3rd world country of the United States of America is behind. https://africanagenda.net/african-integrated-high-speed-rail-network/

  • As a white European, who has lived in worked in the USA for a few years, worked with a fully 100% Japanese enterprise and now living in China for the last 7 years, I can wholeheartedly say China. I made myself swear I’ll never work with Japanese again. It’s the most frustrating experience. My project was supposed to take 9 months but ended up taking over 3 years due to indecisiveness from the Japanese. Plus the working hours are insane with the drinking afterwards. China is much better than Japan workwise. Also I don’t know why you left nature out of the China list. Nature is amazing here. For me personally living here is great. The infrastructure with public transport and high speed railway is second to none. Plus the daily convenience because of the super apps like AliPay and Wechat. It’s hard to explain to someone who hasn’t been here. Luckily a lot more people are discovering China thanks to the visa free travel now for most countries - except the US of course. It’s amazing to hear/see these tourists being shocked how good and normal life is in here because they get fed only negative propaganda back home. China is not North Korea.
