The main reason I picked .zip was the lack of defederation. There’s definitely content here I don’t want to see and do hide, but I’m suprised how many people here (Lemmings? Piefeddies?) are happy to delegate that task to an instance admin.
It’s my role to determine what content I see, no one else’s.

Near the start of the meeting, Yen said, “I want to acknowledge myself, personally, that there was a communication failure on my part and there are many things that probably could and should have been communicated differently, and this is something that I’ll have to reflect on and improve over time. So I will do that.”
“So what does that mean going forward? Going forward, I’m still going to push,” he added.
Uh. This news makes everything about 0% better.

Yeah, actually. I was probably too blithe.

I’m not at all suprised he thinks that, but I dunno. I am a bit suprised he said it out loud.

That’s specifically why I think it’s a bluff. It’s not an escalation if you’re already doing it.

Is Sen. Murphy actually stupid or is he knowingly doing a good cop/bad cop routine with Trump?
Trump: I’ll destroy Iranian civilization.
Iran: We’ve called this bluff every week for 9 months now.
Murphy: No guys it’s different this time I saw the plans!

Is it really even a leak if they’re armed bureaucratspublic servants? It should already be public, by definition.

I really disagree with DSA’s AOC obsession, especially given how not reciprocated it’s been ever since her initial endorsement. I obviously understand the desire to endorse a candidate you agree with because you think they’re going to win, but I don’t think AOC has a viable path to winning the nomination, much less the presidency.
I also understand the appeal of endorsing a candidate doomed to lose because their a good messenger for your beliefs and you want to work on shifting the Overton window, but I don’t think AOC (almost certainly a social democrat) is a good messenger for socialist politics. Her vote to fund the Iron Dome and staged crocodile tears afterwards immediately disqualify her tbh. Plus, now there’s the new revelation that she’s dialed back on her willingness to confront the Democratic establishment, which makes a lot of her recent endorsements (or lack thereof) make more sense.
She’s in the bad-messenger and doomed-to-lose quadrant of possible candidates. The biggest red flag (and not in the good way).
And I know people are going to say to not let the perfect be the enemy of the good, and I get that. I’ll happily vote for her in the primary and general. But a DSA endorsement is a huge time and effort commitment that could be better used on candidates in other races that are openly socialist and/or viable.

Sometimes I worry that maybe the state doesn’t have our best interests in mind 👉👈

Small price to pay for all the Freedom™ we’re bringing to weddings and schools across Iran.

OK, but literally why would you do that? Genuinely baffled. Like, is this someone that doesn’t read trying to convince others (or themselves?) that they’re avid readers or something?

Has no one sat Tim down and explained to him how much free marketing he gives Steam?

Is there any reason to think separate steaming boxes behave better?

I don’t know who in the DCCC needs to hear this, but learning a Republican supports a Democratic candidate makes me support them less, not more.
You’d think Harris trotting out Liz Cheney and losing would get the message across, but magically donor money makes that lesson go poof.

Fire in the Sky. Way too young for the honey scene.

Letterboxd, and to an extent Goodreads.
I just spent a solid chunk of time importing and correcting various accounts to NeoDB and Bookwyrm and they are both petty frustrating to use, especially with how much content is missing, mislabeled, or duplicated. Plus, they don’t seem to federate with each other (understandable, in so far as very few parts of the Fediverse actually federate well together [unlike, perhaps, Mastodon and mbin]) or even support exporting/importing data from each other.

Don’t volunteer to kill and die for a county that actively, openly hates you.

Because then I’d never finish my masterpiece. /hj But more seriously, a lot of his stylistic choices are ones I try to not replicate in my own writing. The extremely detailed descriptions of food, clothing, woman’s bodies, etc. I love the story he tells but find the writing itself can be a chore to read sometimes, if that makes sense.
Whenever I see a post with those markdown headers (that’s what those are, right?) I kinda just assume it’s slop.
