Fox [he/him]@vegantheoryclub.orgto United States | News & Politics@lemmy.ml•Luigi Mangione’s defense fund nears $1 million as donations pour in ahead of his birthday12·2 months agoThe more that comes out about this case the more I believe that I’d vote not guilty if I were on the jury even regardless of politics.
First of all I don’t even believe he’s the same guy from the Starbucks footage (not the same guy as the hostel footage who you see smiling). But even ignoring that, the police apparently turned their body cam footage off while searching his bag and did it with his back turned. On top of that, they searched his bag once, packed it all up again, and then took it back to the station and searched it again where they found the gun. Any competent lawyer would be able to convince at least a few jurors that the gun was planted. However, the cops told him that he wasn’t under arrest or being detained, so searching his bag on site would mean that the evidence was obtained unlawfully (therefore inadmissible in court). And on top of all that, he was apparently never even read his Miranda rights.
That leaves the partial fingerprint they found on a water bottle of Mangione’s in NYC, which ties him to the location but is circumstantial at best. The fake ID probably has charges that don’t really amount to much, and with the contents of the bag (in any rational country) being unable to be admitted, what would they be able to convict him on other than that? The fake ID ties him to the location, but again, that is circumstantial.
I’m assuming there’s more evidence that hasn’t been made public because if there isn’t then this isn’t exactly a slam dunk case on the prosecutor’s part.

Scouse is traditionally made out of literally whatever is available. Ask 10 people to make a bowl of scouse and you will get 10 different final products.
Also, rule 4 and 7.
I substituted the typically used lamb chunks for lentils and peas though TVP works better for this dish, I just didn’t have any. It is usually also made with potato chunks, sliced carrots, and onions (though I don’t like them personally) cooked in veg stock in a pot, alternatively you could slow cook it if you have the time.
The thing with scouse is that it literally has no fixed recipe. It’s an old working class dish that was basically just made with leftovers and scraps of whatever was available. It’s a great dish if you have root vegetables you want to use up.
Yeah it’s not like I’ve lived in or around Liverpool my entire life or anything.
It’s a North English stew with no real fixed recipe, traditionally it was literally just made out of whatever scraps were available.

Fox [he/him]@vegantheoryclub.orgto Ask Lemmygrad@lemmygrad.ml•Who of you want or don't want children? I am just curious because most people that I talk to don't seem to want it. I mean leftist2·4 months agoI was abused by my family growing up and am worried that I wouldn’t know how to be a good parent. That is the main personal reason I don’t want to have children.
I also don’t think it’s a good idea for societal reasons. With the way things are currently going, in my opinion there is a near zero chance that upper Gen Alpha/Gen Beta is going to have a pleasant future and wouldn’t want to put a child through that.

I dug my old Nintendo DS out of storage a few months ago. Unfortunately I sold all the games to it long ago but I’ve slowly been rebuying them. Recently beat Sonic Rush once again. I don’t really game much these days but its portability makes it nice to have for long bus/train journeys. Was surprised it still works to be honest lol.

I was vegetarian for a while before going vegan and this is when I became introduced to tofu. I didn’t like it at first but I tried it again once turning vegan and by then I had grown to like it.
