Mrchromebox is the way. I have an old Acer Chromebook that I use for distro hopping, was using MX with KDE Plasma for a while with no issues. This week I’ve been trying to get FreeBSD to work on it…well I got FreeBSD to work, but I can’t seem to get any DE running with it…yet.
I often wonder how much was lost just in the Library of Alexandria. Start combining that one place, with countless wars, fires and natural disasters throughout time and it boggles my mind thinking about it.
This is where I landed. I got annoyed trying to set up FL through Wine, so I decided to just give Reaper a shot. There has been some learning involved, but I am enjoying it.
For whatever reason it was easier for me to learn a new DAW and native Linux Plugins than it was for me to learn how to properly set up FL and plugins in Wine.
I will probably give FL a go again when I have more time, but I just couldn’t wrap my head around the things I needed to fix.
Not surprising. We always want to take the path of least resistance. I mean 20 years ago, you could access the world’s information via the internet, but you had to know how to search for things. We slowly went from that to “I’ll just google it.” and “Well, google says.” Now that we have LLM’s (which IMHO are mostly just fancier, faster google search) we have people legitimately saying “let me ask ChatGPT” and “ChatGPT says.”
I think there is a positive future for LLM’s and true AI, but its not right now, and it definitely is not in the hands of capitalists.
Recent Windows update caused secure boot issues on my kid’s laptop, wouldt get past BIOS without some fiddling.
Why does Windows suck so badly?
