I think this is a problem But my main issue i’m most passionate about is the issue of misinformation. In the process of writing thsi post i did an experiment and asked it some questiosn about autism. I asked them waht autsitic burnout is. They gave an explanation that’s incorrect, and furthers the incorrect assumption alot of pepole make that i’ts something specific to autistic people. But it’s a wider phenomon of physiological neurocongitive burnout. I confronted them on this they refined their position then I asked them why they said it. And what frustrates me even more is a couple months ago i had someone swear to me up and down that, the hallucinations in chatgpt were fixed and they ain’t that bad anymore. Granted, they were far worse in the past. It litaerlly tol dme autims level system was something that no longer exists despite it being currently widely used.

But here’s the problem. I am an expert on this topic. Most people aren’t asking chatgpt questions about things they are an expert in, and they also are using it as a therapist.

All in all i wasn’t expecting it to have no hallucinations but i was atelast expecting it to not still be a massive issue in just basic information retrival on topics that aren’t even super obscure and information si widely available about.

Ultimately here’s the issue. The vast majority of pro-genai people don’t know what genai actually is and why it is bad to use it in the way they are as a result. GenAI is a very advanced from of predictive text function. It just predicts what it thinks the words following that queery is based on the tereabytes maybe evne petabytes of infromation it’s scrapped from the internet. Which means it’s not really useful for anything beyond very basic things like asking it to generate simple ideas or summarize an article or video and very basic coding. I only dabble very lighlty in programming but frmo hwat i’ve heard actaul experienced programmers say it trying to use chatgpt for major coding just means having to rewrite most of the code.

I can’t have evidence of a systme that doesn’t currently exist, because we haven’t reached a stage in society where it can exist as we need to progress through socialism to get peopel to the point hwere they are socialized ina way that system like that could exist. What does people trying ot get more of something that others have any relevance. You just deal with that as a society by punishing that person. You are assuming we want a for profit system to exist. I am against copyright because i don’t believe for profit systems should exist cause i’m a marxist. Because it’s a tool of capital in an egalitarian society, communist society. copyright should not exist because it has no reason to cause it’s sole purpsoe would be to stifle creativity and cut off access of it for the people. The main purpose of copyright has always been to stiffle creativity and sharing something among people. As such it’s a capitalist system meant to protect profits.

I haven’t noticed this being the general consensus among leftists. Generally leftists dont’ care for copyright. As in practice it’s just used to stiffle art and generate profit for the bougiose. My objection to ai is that specially in a capitalist society it’s a net negative to society. I kinda agree with kavernacle in that it should not be easily accessible for public use. It’s just going to lead to the degredation of culture. People are going to start using ai, to do personal things like write speeches for weddings. And in a capitalist systme it will inveitably lead to the destruction of art on a larger corporate scale. As AI slop is more profitable. There might still be some actual art going on but it will lead to the further sloppifying of media content that has been going on in the last decade or so.

Most memes atleast graphical ones do not come from art. They come from photos and pictures of people tv shows or internet clips. The ones that aren’t this usualyl are just simple edits of photos like the socially awkward penguin meme. Of the ones I can think of the creator was either a part of the community it becmae popular in and had no probelm with ti becoming a meme (troll face), or created it for use in the same way it is used now (epic face). Pepe is an example of one that became adopted as a very popular meme but the creator ahd no involvement in it being adopted and they seem fine with it. There is defintiely some very morally questionable thigns involving memes but turning art into memes is not one of them. Also it’s just not ip theft. It completely falls under fair use. And is often jsut literally sharing the image like troll face or epic face.

For me when the morally questionable parts come in it’s when you turn people into memes. Like Hawk tauh girl.

I haven’t talked to my mom since before trump even ran for president so.

It is illegial but laws only matter if people enforce them which the supreme court among others refuses too.
