It took me a week and a half of absolute nonsense in order to pick it up.

They kept claiming to have attempted a delivery when I’d receive no calls from the buzzer, to which I then requested to pick it up at the nearest UPS store, which they told me they didn’t do package pick up at (they do, I walk by it all the time and have seen people leave with packages and have picked one up there since), to which I then started waiting a quarter of my day waiting outside my building waiting for the truck, which wouldn’t show up and still claim delivery attempts, and on the last day before they were to return it to sender, I requested pick up at the “only” place to do so at the airport (which is an added cost???), and spent two hours on transit only for them to tell me they don’t take cash.

It was a miracle I got the phone at all because person behind me offered to pay the fees for me on her card if I gave her the cash. Even putting aside the added pickup fee, I think the cost to pick up the phone at all was around a hundred because of UPS’ “luxury goods” fee, which Murena at no point informed me of upon purchase, so if I didn’t have the spare funds from my tax return, it would’ve been sent back regardless. I’d also have to pay that fee again getting the new phone.

I bought the Murena One since it was the cheapest model that was close to the specs of my phone at the time. Figured $500 was already overpaying considering how much lower cost my previous phone was, but also, who the hell thinks about a $500 phone bricking in a month? I just find it inexcusable regardless.

I remember wanting to get the removable battery, but they didn’t offer that with the One, and I’d be losing specs if I got a model in my budget that did have one. I also wasn’t going to spend over a grand for a phone with the Fairphone models available through them at the time.

I spent $500 on a Murena only for the thing to brick a month later because the cord or whatever connecting the rechargable battery to the rest of the phone somehow split off. Would’ve been open to shipping the thing back to them for a repair/replacement since a local shop was unable to do so, but they use UPS for shipping and there was no way in hell I was going to deal with the absolute mess it was to receive the phone to begin with a second time.

Good. What this should do is also invigorate our economy and have us explore alternatives that we can produce here. Even before this nonsense I was worried about our heavy dependence on the U.S., but here we are now with it punching us in the gut.

Federal government should really give funding boosts to greenhouse farms right about now so that we can grow more stuff here out of season and not import from say, California all the time.

I’m frustrated to the point that I want to see a policy implemented saying that if you didn’t vote in the last election (assuming you were eligible to do so), you don’t get entrance since you’d be more of a burden as someone who can’t perform their civic duty

All respect to Jagmeet as a person, but his leadership skills are fairly weak. I take a look at everything Charlie Angus has been doing as of late and just keep thinking, “man, I wish he was the guy in charge”. Great stuff, just sucks he seems to be stepping out of politics by not running again.

Also the Greens are just a mess thanks to Annamie Paul. She as a party leader lost her own seat. It’s ridiculous, imagine having the same outcome for your party leader as the fucking PPC. I’d consider throwing a vote their way, but Elizabeth May literally pushed for Paul heavily over Dimitri Lascaris in the party election when I think it’s fairly clear that Lascaris would have better leadership skills for the party than Paul did.

Something I’ve been wanting to work on is repairing old analogue electronics and putting those to use, like VCRs and the likes. While I totally get why we’ve moved on from older formats like VHS, I feel tossing that generation of electronics aside when they still work perfectly fine is a bit of an injustice considering how durable a lot of those were made.

Something that’s especially stood out is the old CED format. Have never seen a player despite having seen the discs out and about sometimes, and the ones online never seem to be in working condition.

For chickpeas, I’m fairly certain they sell them in 11 kg bags at store I visit.

Right, thanks for noting that. I remember working in grocery they’d often receive product in plastic wrap to keep it stable on the skids.

Mind you with my experience in the back of the store, while I never worked receiving, I’m fairly certain both the canned and dried beans both arrived to the store the same way, as it was usually an assortment of boxes rather than a skid purely of one product unless it was a feature or display.

Would you say this would likely still be the case if it was domestic? For reference if it helps I’m in Canada, and I can’t say I know where exactly in the country the beans I buy are grown and canned. Could be in Ontario for all I know which is essentially across the country for me.
