Seriously, come on everyone, this is embarrassing. The motivations of the Al-Qaeda and the 9/11 hijackers was not religion, but based on revenge over US policy.

In a second 1998 fatwā, bin Laden outlined his objections to American foreign policy with respect to the State of Israel, as well as the continued presence of American troops in Saudi Arabia after the Gulf War.,

Yes the language of religon was used, but the actual objections are entirely political in nature. If religion magically never existed, then the same events would play out and 9/11 still would’ve happened.
